Manager (Former Employee) says"This is by far the most unprofessional, unethical company. The Senior Leadership Team and Corporate Officers are ONLY worried about $$. They preach employee wellness and safety and fail miserably at both! HR is only worried about their small circle of friends and family that work there. If you are not in their click you are a moving target and will be targeted and harassed.Absolutely NothingEverything"
Machine Operator (Former Employee) says"Supervisors cant speak english then get mad when you asked them to repeat themselves. The machines are always breaking down. The toxic "Green Soap" powder chemical is bad to breathe but everyone is exposed. Saftey Cordinator is a joke on coke and it smells like noodles in the break room."
Chemical Operator (Current Employee) says"There is no such thing as fair compensation at Johnson matthey and management doesn’t communicate so expect to be running around also the packaging manager has no clue as to what’s going on inside his plant I got a chemical burn on my arm from dry product and the area I work in is extremely hot so it was sweat causing it to react but when they did the incident report all of management acted surprised to find that it was 117 degrees up there"
Operator (Former Employee) says"Stay away from this company. -Poor management -very low salary -pushing and no respect -Fake meetings and promises and lies on meetings. -No growing -No futureyou are not homelessNo future"
Project Reservoir Tech (Former Employee) says"Worst Place to Work. Hate to see someone better than them. Lack of minorities. The job title is a joke. They count eachother pockets. Majority of the men divorced cause their wives left em due to the amount of traveling you do. Training system is a joke. Everyone there is a joke. The entire company is a joke. No one knows how to do their job properly at all. If you have any sort of Degree you will be significantly underpaid and not up to date with the industry at all. 9 + 10 is 21 type of mentality.Hey If you want to get out to Texas great stepping stone, let them pay for your credentials and then leaveThe whole place."
Process Controls Engineer (Former Employee) says"Johnson Matthey was a bad place to work. Management does not understand what occurred on the floor; yelling about odd and arbitrary things. Constantly working long hours in difficult settings practically around the clock."
PROJECT ENGINEER (Current Employee) says"A typical day starts with listing all the top priorities in order of magnitude. Managing the contractors in the execution of the tasks. Most of the day is spent communicating with all the stakeholders.Managing people, Dealing with different issues, Problem solvingLong hours"
Production Operator (Former Employee) says"Monotonous work in a very noisy environment. Management were completely detached and only regarded staff as numbers on paper. Permanent staff were paid £8000 per year more than agency temps for doing exactly the same work and hours. Temps did not get a share of the productivity bonus which was paid to permanent staff only. Management kept claiming there would be some temps made permanent in the near future, then, after a month or two claimed there wasn't enough money in the budget. This was repeated time after time. Then, in 2008, management decided to get rid of all the temps. More than 100 lost their jobs. The longest serving temps had been there more than two years and led up the garden path regarding permanent jobs just around the corner which management had no intention of providing. Johnson Matthey job adverts drone on about the company being "Blue Chip" and listed on the FTSE 100 but the company wont even spend money on adequate heating and lighting. Working conditions were very poor. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting laid off and not having to go back.Free lunches.12 hour shifts, lack of adequate heating and lighting, monotonous work and noise levels around 80 decibels."
Creditors (Former Employee) says"Good to work with people in office and factory, variety of duties each day. Working with my office friends was enjoyable and nice to learn from thempension, medical, 13th cheque"
Ouvrier de production (Former Employee) says"le travail était agréable, mais le debut de la crise dans cette entreprise commence avec la fermeture ,,et aussi je travaillais comme interimaire mais pas chaque jour."
Rather not say (Current Employee) says"If you have an office Job in IT, HR, Scientists, Accounting, EHS, Engineering or are in management then you have it made and will work minimal days and hours. However if you do not have a office job then you need to be in with this good ole boy click or you will work very long hours, have very low pay, and will have no advancement. Management has been changing for the worse, these groups put on a nice face but then they pounce and become spiteful. If you have a office job, you have it madeNew Mangement"
EHS Specialist (Former Employee) says"I worked in EHS for almost a year and the culture is authoritarian and the employee morale is through the floor. Management is in inept and the HR manager is in bed with the General Manager. Management has serious ethical issues and not military friendly at all. Alfa Aesar was investigated by OSHA and the VA for violations in 2012. Applicants beware!Great PayToo many to list!"
Consultant (Current Employee) says"Constant management move around and removal. Decisions all based on the cheapest options rather than the correct ones. Very concerning security and IT issues."
Material control. (Former Employee) says"JM does not care about its employees. They try to be "efficient" by cutting back on the amount of employees and adding on to work load. You aren't allowed to socialize with coworkers while on the job. They treat you like a child.None.No breaks. Very hot inside. Managers/supervisors are all for themselves."
MR Fix IT (Former Employee) says"They are NOT SAFETY conscious at ALL!!! When something happens, it is all hush hush. There is NO learning that comes out of it. Surprised OSHA does NOT come down on them harder. Also, people are NOT valued. The head of HR has affiliation with the township in a HIGH RANKING capacity, so, some of what is done is for show! This is a union shop, but, HR runs the show. If you are NOT in the click with them, FORGET IT! Some harassment goes on, but, if you are in the CLICK, it is all swept under the rug! They are out to get you like scavengers. Will make up lies to get you! People are allowed to say and do what they want if they are in the click. If you are NOT in the click, you are treated like garbage until your need has been fulfilled and then you are thrown out on the street like trash without a can! Would totally recommend checking into things before starting working there, unless you are TOTALLY desperate!Still wondering!HORRIBLE treatment, pay is lousy, MUST be an BUTT KISSER"
Machine Operator/Production (Former Employee) says"People make random racist remarks to other staff members. Staff at this company feel threatened by new staff members and try to give you all the bad points of the job to encourage new staff to quit. Lead and production manager can care less about new staff members coming into their company."
Confidential (Former Employee) says"Extremely unprofessional environment. Managers and HR regularly violate EEOC, ADA, and privacy laws. Inconsistent management/discipline. Confidentiality is non-existent."
Manager (Current Employee) says"I thought joining Johnson Matthey would allow me to help people live better lives. I wasn't aware that I could possibly place my own life in jeopardy due to chemical exposure in the air. Although I wasn't a chemist working in the refinery building are risks that wasn't shared prior to joining the company.NothingLack of honesty from HR and management."
Worker (Current Employee) says"Management is racist. It is hard being a minority working for that company. Minority workers are treated horribly and management is okay with abusing minority workers."
Electronic controls tech (Former Employee) says"All they do is lie. They dump every problem on the controls tech. They promote based on how well you suck up not ability or talent. This is a great stepping stone to better things !!!!!"
